The University of Toledo Physicians strives to provide the highest quality personalized care to patients throughout Ohio and Southeastern Michigan. We are the academic practice plan of the University of Toledo. John Huber
Chief Administrative and Financial Officer
John Huber, MBA, Chief Administrative and Financial Officer, joined the University of Toledo Physicians, LLC., on April 18, 2022.
Mr. Huber has extensive experience in business development and strategic planning, including directing financial operations, corporate practices, hospital systems, and navigating teams through internal changes and an evolving healthcare landscape.
As Chief Administrative and Financial Officer, he is responsible for the fiscal management of UTP. He oversees reporting of financial results and is responsible for the development, interpretation, coordination, and administration of the organization’s policies on finance, accounting, revenue cycle, internal controls, and auditing.
He works with University of Toledo Physicians, LLC. leadership to develop and maintain a team to lead the organization and lead the effort to focus on future planning supported by enhanced data and analytics capabilities leading the University of Toledo Physicians to become a more strategic forward-thinking and innovative partner across the organization.
Mr. Huber previously served as Vice President, Director of Operations Support, at ProMedica/ HCR ManorCare from 2018 to 2022 and prior to that, he held several positions of increasing complexity and responsibility at HCR ManorCare from 1994-2018.
Mr. Huber completed his Master of Business Administration from Ohio State University and his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Toledo where he graduated Summa Cum Laude.
Daniel Frattarelli, MD
Chief Physician Executive
Daniel Frattarelli, MD is Chief Physician Executive for University of Toledo Physicians and Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs at UToledo College of medicine. In this role, he provides strategic leadership and clinical oversight for the physician group’s nearly 400 physicians and advanced practice providers, and helps to align the University’s clinical, academic, and research missions.
Dr. Frattarelli spent 20 years with Beaumont (now Corewell) Health, and most recently served as president of Beaumont Medical Group. During his time as Chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Committee on Drugs, he testified before Congress, the Food & Drug Administration, and the Institute of Medicine and was instrumental in passing legislation strengthening pediatric drug testing and safety. Dr. Frattarelli was a founding board member of the Beaumont ACO, one of the five top performing ACOs nationally. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, a Knight of the Order of Malta, has received the Clarence S. Livingood Humanitarian Award, was named Faculty of the Year numerous times, and has more than 35 publications on pediatric pharmacology.
A practicing board-certified pediatrician, Dr. Frattarelli earned his medical degree from Michigan State University and his bachelor’s degree from University of Michigan. He did his residency and chief residency at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, as well as a fellowship in pediatric clinical pharmacology. Prior to his career in medicine, he served in the US Navy.
Dr. R. Ryan Sadeghian, MD, MBA, MSBI, MSCI
Chief Medical Information Officer
In his role, Dr. Sadeghian will lead the optimization of healthcare IT systems across the University. He is tasked with advancing clinical operations; ensuring high-quality care; transforming care delivery; and optimizing the experiences of patients, physicians and staff. He has been deeply involved in integrating artificial intelligence and machine learning into healthcare systems, with a focused effort over the last two years. Dr. Sadeghian’s work has been pivotal in alleviating physician burnout, enhancing clinical efficiency, reducing administrative burdens, and improving patient satisfaction and outcomes. He is also an active educator and author, having written several books on leadership and AI, contributing to the field’s understanding and application of these transformative technologies.
Dr. Sadeghian received his doctor of medicine degree from St. George’s University in Grenada, Washington. He also holds a physicians executive master of business administration from Auburn University, a master of science in biomedical informatics through post-doctoral training from University of Pittsburg, and a master of science in clinical informatics and patient-centered technology through a clinical informatics fellowship from University of Washington.
Melissa Bolt
Vice President, Value Based Care
Melissa Bolt is the Vice President of Value Based Care at University of Toledo Physicians. In this role, Melissa is responsible for leading multidisciplinary teams in achieving higher levels of quality, service and value, while spearheading innovative and best practice programs geared toward exceeding national clinical outcomes. She has over 25 years of experience in healthcare including previous roles that involved Accountable Care Organization (ACO) oversight, contracting, value-based care program support, and data analytics. Melissa is very skilled at optimizing group performance to improve patient care and maximize incentive dollars earned.
Melissa earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Calvin University and her Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan.
Kristine Simonsen-Monus
Vice President, Revenue Cycle
Kristine brings a background of 35+ years in healthcare management in the physician and professional side of revenue cycle. Her experience has ranged from front-end revenue cycle to coding, auditing, revenue integrity, while managing accounts receivable and cash collections. She has been a presenter/panelist at Becker’s Healthcare and earned her CRCR in 2024. Her director leadership roles in local multi-specialty medical groups, The Toledo Clinic and ProMedica, allowed the expansion and elevation of her career into larger, regional, and multi-state health systems with Trinity Health in Michigan, and most recently, Emory Health in Atlanta. An undergraduate degree from Bowling Green State University in Healthcare Administration help to propel her into healthcare with her earning her MBA from University of Toledo in 2017.
Her family background was grounded in healthcare, with both grandfathers and father being physicians, which taught her the importance of being patient-centric focused. She is devoted to her husband, children, and grandchildren who enjoys traveling and visiting with friends and family. She looks forward to becoming more involved in her local community through her new role at UTP.
Mindy Ward
Vice President, Controller
Mindy Ward is the Controller at University of Toledo Physicians. She has over 34 years of healthcare experience at multiple healthcare organizations. Her focus has been Financial/Accounting and Revenue Cycle Management. Mindy spent the majority of her career with Mercy Health System where she was Controller for the Northern Division.
Mindy earned both her Bachelor’s of Business Administration and Master’s of Business Administration with a focus on Healthcare Administration from the University of Toledo.
Tim Zemaitis
Vice President, Human Resources
Tim Zemaitis is the Vice President of Human Resources, and has been in the field for over 15 years. Tim has a consistent focus on investing in employees and collaborating with stakeholders to support the organization’s strategic goals of improving patient wellbeing. Tim earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s of Science in Human Resources Management from Indiana Wesleyan University and holds a certificate in professional human resources.
